Prior to attending UAT, I served in the United States Navy as a Gunner's Mate where I handled, operated and maintained my ship's weaponry, munitions and ordinance. I also trained my crewmates on the use and care of said equipment and worked inside my ship's Anti-Terrorism Team where we partook in search and seizure, fireteam, and high security tactics.

Community Statement

As a veteran of the United States’ Navy, I have had the great fortune traveling the world. In my travels I’ve met and worked with individuals from all walks of life, I’ve seen the way technology helps people and I’ve seen the way those are hindered by an complete absence of technology. When I first announced my intentions to pursue a degree in robotics those in my chain of command asked if I was going to “go out and put guns on robots”. Now, I was a Gunner’s Mate in the Navy, I love anything that goes boom, bang, pop, incinerates and obliterates. However, I feel the world has enough things with guns on them. I’ve honorably fulfilled my contract and my service is at an end, but I still want to continue to serve my fellow Americans but those beyond our borders as well because technology has no borders. Technology has so much more to offer the world than destruction and I want to be apart of what takes us past acts of war and violence.
